When I was looking for a coffee place around the Marriott hotel this one looked most interesting, and I wasn't disappointed. While many other coffee shops seem to close very early, this one was open and very busy - still having seating space available. The place is very lively due to its location at the Michigan State University. Coffee was good, donuts delicious, and reasonably priced. Service was excellent. There are also photo opportunities with the Spartan University mascot on a bench, and a University gear shop. Recommended.

Strange Matter catered our event and Eli and Cara were wonderful to work with. They provided guidance in selecting our menu and everything was prepared exactly as expected. Would absolutely recommend working with them for catering.

Probably THE best place to get coffee on campus. The service is always amazing. The baristas are incredibly helpful. Prince was working register and was really helpful with picking out a good option when I wanted to try something new. Additionally, even when the place is busy you get your order pretty quickly. The drinks are always high quality. There's an amazing variety of options, and the cinnamon honey latte is great for these cold Michigan winters. The pastries just can't be beat, with gluten free options if you have dietary restrictions. Plus, it's a great local chain if you want to move away from Starbucks.

I love this location in the Union, it's really fast and convenient! Even when there's a long line it moves way faster than Starbucks. Also there gluten free pastries are sooooo good!

Strange Matter (at the union) has become routine for me and so many of my friends. All of the staff members are friendly all day, every day, and some of them even learned our names! The service is super fast, even during busy hours, and everything on their menu is delicious. From the regular donuts to the seasonal and gluten free options, every pastry tastes incredible (At this point I’ve tried almost every donut and I have enjoyed every single one). The drinks are also amazing and consistent. I can’t help but keep going back <3
